Author Guidelines

  1. Authors are invited to make a submission to this journal. All submissions will be assessed by an editor to determine whether they meet the aims and scope of this journal. Those considered to be a good fit will be sent for peer review before determining whether they will be accepted or rejected.
  2. Before making a submission, authors are responsible for obtaining permission to publish any material included with the submission, such as photos, documents and datasets. All authors identified on the submission must consent to be identified as an author. Where appropriate, research should be approved by an appropriate ethics committee in accordance with the legal requirements of the study's country.
  3. An editor may desk reject a submission if it does not meet minimum standards of quality. Before submitting, please ensure that the study design and research argument are structured and articulated properly. The title should be concise, and the abstract should be able to stand on its own. This will increase the likelihood of reviewers agreeing to review the paper. When you're satisfied that your submission meets this standard, please follow the checklist below to prepare your submission.
  4. The author(s) grant DLIS, DU all rights to the work mentioned above. These rights include, but are not limited to, the rights to edit, publish, distribute, reproduce, and, if necessary, revise the title of the paper, as well as to use the author(s)' names in connection with the publication, promotion, and dissemination of JLIS.
  5. The author(s) warrant that the manuscript is original, unpublished, contains no unlawful content, does not infringe upon the rights of any author/third party, and was not generated by the AI tool. The author(s) further confirm they have full authority to transfer these rights (please refer to the "Copyright Transfer Agreement" of the JLIS).
  6. Authors are required to submit their manuscripts exclusively using the prescribed JLIS Manuscript Template.

Author Responsibilities

JLIS is committed to ensuring a professional, respectful, and efficient experience throughout the review and publication process. To support this goal, authors are expected to uphold the following responsibilities:

  • Respond promptly to all communications and queries throughout the publication process.
  • Take full accountability for every aspect of the submitted work, including addressing any issues related to accuracy, research integrity, or ethical concerns.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding all correspondence with the journal's editorial team until a final editorial decision is issued.

Authors must also review and comply with the Copyright Transfer Agreement, which requires that you:

  • Include all individuals who have made a substantial and meaningful contribution to the development of the manuscript. Contributors who do not meet authorship criteria should be acknowledged appropriately.
  • Exclude individuals who have not contributed to the manuscript or who do not wish to be associated with the research.

JLIS Principles for the Use of AI Tools

  • Authors and peer reviewers remain fully responsible and accountable for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of all submitted work.
  • AI tools must be used ethically and responsibly, with clear disclosure of their role and purpose.
  • AI tools may supplement, but must never replace, human intellectual contribution within the publication process.

Use of generative AI for copywriting (creating, drafting, or producing new scholarly content) is strictly prohibited.

However, copy-editing of an author's original text, including refining grammar, clarity, structure, or formatting using generative AI tools, is permitted, provided that all use adheres to the overarching principles stated above.
